Travel to/from TFS
Toolik Field Station is located at mile 284.5 of the Dalton Highway, 370 miles north of Fairbanks. Travel to the station by road takes roughly 8-12 hours and requires travel on a largely unpaved industrial artery that serves operations at Prudhoe Bay. The majority of our researchers and staff travel to TFS via one of the TFS operated NSF Science Support Trucks that travel to and from the station twice weekly. There are several alternative methods of travel one may also select:
Option 1: Internally operated Science Support Truck service from Fairbanks
Option 2: “Toolik Taxi” shuttle van from Prudhoe Bay
Option 3: Externally operated Dalton Highway Express service from Fairbanks
Option 4: CPS, UAF or commercial rental truck (driven by user)
Please use the links at left to your organize your travel to/from Alaska and Toolik Field Station. Each user must arrange transportation to and from the station prior to arrival in Alaska.
